Experimental Canyon Demo

A preview image of the 'Experimental Canyon Demo' world.

Description:
A vast canyon lightly dusted with snow and enshrouded by a foggy sunrise. This world was created as a tech demo for authoring large terrains with minimal rendering performance impact. The main terrain spans two kilometers and is sliced into 64 chunks that are 32 meters across. This approach allows the use of frustum-culling and the authoring of multiple levels of detail to reduce triangle counts at further distances. All the options contained in the Context Menu are local, including the Time of Day selector. Assets utilized Textures • "Ground 094 A", "Rock 062", "Snow 015", "Evening Sky HDRI 045 B", "Evening Sky HDRI 026 B" provided by ambientCG (https://ambientcg.com/) Audio • "Silent breeze, insect noises and birds slightly singing, wind blows up a little in the desert at Arivaca canyon frontier" by felix.blume on Freesound (https://freesound.org/s/649866/) • "Footsteps_Mountain_Boots_Gravel_Mono.wav" by Nox_Sound on Freesound (https://freesound.org/s/556002/) Software Utilized • Blender 5.1 (https://www.blender.org/) • Addons: Ucupaint, A.N.T.Landscape • GIMP 3.2 (https://www.gimp.org/) • FL Studio 2025 (https://www.image-line.com/) Special Thanks • Cyro for showing me the method used for authoring terrain LODs.
